Livestock Overview

The next generation of cattle producers will have the advantage of decades worth of research and testing done specifically at Southern Cattle Company.  Working in conjunction with the University of Florida's GrowSafe feed system, a controlled long-term study has consistently produced offspring that "PRODUCE MORE RED MEAT ON LESS FEED". By combining efforts with Leachman Cattle of Colorado, BIO and the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, SCC has been able to compile data on over 9000 head of cattle and in turn use that information to assign individual Angus Bulls with a feed conversion of EPD, the highest and most accurate indicator for real feed conversion available.  This same controlled study based science has made Southern Cattle Company the uncompromised leader in production of breeding seed stock of multiple herds in the area.  The continuing research and findings will do more to increase the cost efficiency of cattle production than any other factor currently being conducted in the industry.

The outreach of Southern Cattle Company's genetics has been a driving influence to many herds across the US and around the world. Most importantly is the impact on the future of Cattle breeding, whether the research on feed efficiency or the embryo and surrogacy programs, many of the herds who call SCC home are consistently ranked in the top ten in the United States, with emphasis on the economics of feed efficiency, carcass merit, growth and performance.  Our Brahman genetics are based on J. D. Hudgins and V8 Ranch bloodlines. This partnership has helped us to access genetics which were otherwise inaccessible and the long-term commitment to genetic superiority has produced maximum benefits which will lead the industry for generations to come.

"No expense was spared to procure, over a long period of time, the best cattle genetics.  This is the finest set of genetics I've ever seen in 35 years". - Dallas Hartzog, Retired Auburn University Extension Agronomist.

SCC Bovine Seed Stock Program

Featuring Angus, Brangus, Charolais, Beefmaster and Brahman the herds of Southern Cattle Company are valued at  approximately $7,000,000 (seven million). The frozen embryo inventory and semen supply currently consists of 2700 cattle embryos averaging $350 - $500 per unit. In addition, the 29,000+ frozen semen supply at an average yield of around $20 per unit, boosts the overall value of SCC seed stock to over $1,000,000 (one million).  With it's on-site state of the art facilities SCC can fill the needs of cattlemen worldwide. The staff is knowledgeable in the regulations for exporting embryos and routinely works with customers around the globe. Southern has the largest herd of Brinks based genetics in the Southeast and prides itself on the commitment to produce a set of bulls and females each year with sustainability in many environments across the United States and particularly in the heat and humidity of the Southern Coastal Regions.

SCC Equine Seed Stock Program

Southern Cattle Company has over 90 cutting horses with a value of around $1,000,000 (one million), as estimated by the Ranch's Full time Equine Manager. Using a system of identifying, collecting and mating individuals deemed superior for future breeding, SCC has been rewarded with a genetically stacked and blended multi-trait Quarter Horse gene pool. The Bronc Stompers and Cattle Crew are among the best ever bred  and lend the necessary support vital for the daily tasks of working cattle herds.  The equine seed stock supply of SCC currently has 50+ units of frozen Southerns Booncat semen sired by the celebrated Peptoboonsmal (ranked 7th of all-time reined cow horses and 8th among all-time cutting sires).
